What a Mess 8/21/08
Rest For A Weary Soul Daily Devotional - Thursday, August 21, 2008

Praise the Lord and Good Evening,

I don't know about you but change is frustrating, especially when you don't see the results change will produce.  We often see the mess changes produces, the inconveniences changes produce and the headaches associated with change.   We can get stuck at living in the changes that we can become offended at the very change that will bring the deliverance we're praying for.

The Lord reminded me today that He isn't confused with what is happening.  It may look crazy, but when God has set the change it makes perfect sense (from God's perspective).  Who are you and I to say what God is doing isn't going to work?  That the changes were unnecessary? That somehow God lost focus of the goals.  It may look strange.  It may not make sense for a while....you might go through some stuff that looks like it means nothing (have you ever had trials that seem to be totally unrelated to your promised destiny... I'm suspecting Joseph was a little confused with the "why" of it...he'd done everything right...and it still turned out wrong (or so he thought).

Sometimes God's blessings come signed, sealed and delivered as "changes."  The Israelites spent 430 years praying for deliverance and when the change came through Moses speaking to Pharaoh (they received the change alright..it began with being required to maintain the daily brick quota while also being required to find the straw first... talk about Moses getting an earful (I can imagine, "Thanks for Nothing Moses.") But God was in those changes!  Remember the saying, "If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it must be a duck."  Not so with God, just because it looks like a trial, and acts like a burden, and feels like forsaken....it could be your deliverance dressed like change!

20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh: 21 And they said unto them, the Lord look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us. 22 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?  23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.  (Exodus 5:20-23 KJV)

And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the host of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:40 KJV)

Matt 11:28-29
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
