Praise the Lord and Good Evening,
The power of timing….Joseph interpreted the butler’s dream and because it had a good outcome, the baker decided it was okay to share his dream too, expecting also to receive the same kind of interpretation….a good one. But the baker misunderstood one thing, that good outcome wasn’t for him….we must be careful to remember that what is for one person, isn’t necessarily for another…..look at God…..we say it all of the time and I think it loses the umph that we try to detail…..but God is Awe-some! Look at how He worked that thing…..He caused the butler to tell Joseph his dream first (timing)…..and because of the good word he received that prompted the baker to share his dream, never considering that they were two different dreams to two different people with two different meanings…..so much for tell your neighbor, "it's going to be alright."
The baker stood in line, expecting to hear good news, presuming his dream’s interpretation would be the same as that of his co-worker…I’m sure it never crossed his mind that he’d receive anything other than good news. What he received was notification that in three days he'd be dead….wow, what a blow! And that’s when I’m sure he went on the defensive and hoped beyond hope that Joseph was wrong. The butler, on the other hand, was hopeful that Joseph was right…..and we know Joseph’s interpretations were on point. The butler went back to the palace and the baker was killed…..but God used both men’s lives to emphasize the fact that God did indeed use Joseph to interpret dreams and their lives were evidence.
Also, Joseph missed it too….he figured since God blessed the butler to get out, that it was his time to get out too…..it was the butler’s time to go back, the baker’s time to die and Joseph’s time to sit and wait some more. Ouch. What do you do when it’s not your time yet? How it stings to find out what you thought was going to be your out, turns out to be nothing of benefit to you (or so you think)…. It was the butler’s moment…. too soon (Joseph) on time (butler) too late (baker)….there was a season for each of them in front of pharaoh….Joseph’s time had not arrived yet, the butler’s time was now and the baker’s time had gone. There is power in God's timing....
And Joseph said unto him, this is the interpretation of it" The three branches are three days: 13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler. 14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: (Genesis 40:12-14 KJV)
