Nothing But the Truth 3/13/10

Rest For A Weary Soul Daily Devotional - Saturday, March 13, 2010

Praise the Lord and Good Morning,

Why are you so tore up about what is happening to you?  You've been seeking the Lord and things still appear to be taking a quick spiral downward.  Does that mean you give up seeking the Lord?  Only if you buy into the lie the enemy is trying to sell you.  The devil is the father of lies.....God can't lie but the devil is the father of them.....and he tells some whoppers.

I had an uncle (Uncle George) that was a storyteller extraordinaire.  He was notorious for telling colorful and highly entertaining stories.  I remember the one about some kids who ran frequently through a yard that had grape vines.....I can't tell it the way he can so I will spare you (it's one of those stories that requires tone inflections at the right place, and is better when shared in person)....anyway, add to the story a footloose and fancy dog that appears out of nowhere and you get the picture.  Uncle George made you laugh by the time he was done with the story.....like I said he was an excellent at crafting a story.  It was vivid and you felt the emotion he incorporated.....like the time he was accidently locked in the church (which was across the street from where he lived).  He wasn't a frequent churchgoer as an adult nor did he attend too many funerals as he was quick to admit he was terrified of dead people.  This time he got up his nerve to go to the church and view the body of the deceased.

How it happened, I still am not certain.  But according to Uncle George, the funeral director didn't realize he was in the church and locked him in there.  It wasn't until he was ready to leave and approached the door when he found out he was alone in the church! With the deceased!!  I smile as I recall his story because I remember his terror.....he ended up banging on the door and someone heard him and he was able to escape....(but as I recount this story to you, it doesn't make sense because if a door is locked and you're on the inside, all you have to do is turn the doorknob.)....anyway....

My point is the enemy can craft a lie that appears so believable, that if you aren't careful, you'll consider it and possibly, take action.  And that is exactly what he wants you to do, take action on his lie!!  Whatever God told you, believe it...with all that is within you.  Repeat it. Out loud.  And rebuke the devil...You are not going to lose trusting God.....now it might look like this is the end and this is not to say that believing God is easy (and that is why we have to stay in the Word to keep His word fresh in our hearts)....it may take some time (and if you're like me, you hate to hear that, because, for starters, it's already been a while)....but the point is this, no matter how long it takes, how many changes you have to go through, what you have lost in the past, what looks like is a dead end now and the future is less than grim....the Lord does not lie!! Can't lie....so all that stuff about God has forgotten and left you as drift wood?  Lies!! Nothing but lies....God is on your side and is working Right Now....you have His Word on that....the devil is telling you are lies....and that's God's truth!!

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do . He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44 KJV)

Matt 11:28-29 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
